When installing a GoldMine networked client, the mapped drive where the shared GM.INI resides cannot be seen or cannot be reached although the user can via the Windows File Explorer.

    When installing a GoldMine client with the option 'Install GoldMine to connect to an existing database', the mapped drive where the shared GM.INI resides (for example S:\GoldMine) cannot be seen or cannot be reached although the user can via the Windows File Explorer.

    To work around this problem, configure the EnableLinkedConnections registry value. This value enables Windows Windows 7 and higher to share network connections. 


    1. Open an administrative command prompt
    2. Type regedit and then press ENTER.
    3. Locate and then right-click the registry subkey

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.

    4. Point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    5.Type EnableLinkedConnections, and then press ENTER.
    6. Right-click EnableLinkedConnections, and then click Modify.
    7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    8. Exit the Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
