Error message when installing Universal search on MSSQL 2005 - Database server file is file 'xyz' cannot be reused until after the next BACKUP LOG operation

    You may receive the following error message when trying to install Universal search when GoldMine is hosted on a SQL 2005 server




    Resolution

    [CAUSE]
    - A Transaction log backup needs to be created for the reinstall of the Universal search.

    [RESOLUTION]

    - Take a Transaction log backup

    SQL Server Management Studio
    1. Right click on the database name.
    2. Select Tasks > Backup.
    3. Select Transaction Log as the backup type.
    4. Select Disk as the destination.
    5. Click on Add... to add a backup file (for example "C:\AdventureWorks.TRN") click OK
    6. Click OK again to create the backup.



    7. Open GoldMine and install the Universal search via Tools > Configure > System Settings Advanced Tab
    8. Install Universal Search button
