HEAT 20x: Example of how to use hierarchical XML to import multiple records (of the same type)

Version 4

    Details

Example of how to use hierarchical XML to import multiple records of the same type (ie, a list of incidents) in HEAT 20x.

    Resolution

See the attached example "Incident.xml" raw XML data, and the hierarchical transformation file "Incident(xslt).txt" (which can be saved as .xslt).

These examples are very fundamental, but provide an example of how the transformation identifies the template object, and the relative path of the field values. It will preview in an import as follows:

A very useful excerpt to the O'Reilly XML guide for relative path references can be found here.

Note that if you are looking for an example of importing multiple object types (ie, CI.Workstation and CI.Server), see the attached "MultipleCITypes.xml" document for the basic structure. This is post-transformation, but gives an example of the end structure that would need to be used.
