Known issue in HEAT EMSS 8.0-8.4: Upgrade fails with MigrateAVRecurringScanPolicies error in event log

    This article describes a known issue in HEAT EMSS versions 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4.  HEAT software support and development are aware of this issue and looking to address it in a future update. The article includes a description of any known workaround and the currently planned release date of a solution. All release dates are subject to change without notice. We will update the article with the new release date where possible.


    Upgrading from an earlier release to any of these versions can produce this error in the Windows event log:

    The text highlighted in red will vary based on the name of folder in your antivirus exclusion.

    This error is caused by AntiVirus exclusions that involve paths containing an apostrophe ( ' ) character.  Removing these exclusions before performing the upgrade will resolve the issue.  The exclusions may be added back after the upgrade has completed.

    This issue is under investigation by HEAT Software Development at this time.  A fix has not yet been scheduled.
