HEAT Discovery Web server hard drive is filling up with log files

Version 1

    Details

HEAT Discovery Web server hard drive is filling up with log files

    Resolution

This issue occurs due to the logging service either not being installed or incorrectly configured on the HEAT Discovery web server:

    1. Verify the HEAT Software Logging Engine service is installed and running on the HEAT Discovery web server
    2. Verify the  HEAT Software Logging Engine service is configured to use the HEAT administrative service account that has administrative rights to the HEAT Discovery web server and the HEAT Application server
    3. Open the System Configuration Wizard on the HEAT Discovery web server and set the logging service to the desired path in the Other Feature Settings tab

    4. Process the wizard to the HEAT Discovery Application Server tab and verify that the Discovery logs are being placed in the same folder as the service is looking for in step 3

    5. Process the wizard to the HEAT Discovery Web Server tab and verify the logging setting matches as well

    6. Finish the wizard

The logging service will only add log file information from the logging directory set in step 3.  If the Discovery logs are being saved to another directory such as C:\Logs\IM\ the log files will not be added to the database and cleared as normal.
