Running reports within Helpdesk gives a General Error Communicating with Crystal Reports

    Problem

     

    When trying to launch a report within Helpdesk get the following error:

    16189 : General error communicating with crystal reports.  Then if you "OK" the message and click on the X to close the report you then get Microsoft Visual c++ runtime library  Runtime error  Program: \\touchpaper2\helpdesk\HDBIN32\Helpdesk.exe  Abnormal program termination 

    Then if you OK the above error you get Touchpaper helpdesk - MESU rquest.rpt: Helpdesk.exe - application error  The instruction at "0x6c3b5115" referenced memory at "0x00000004" The memory couldn't be "read" .

    This error is machine specific.

     

    Solution

     

    From the affected workstation navigate to the following location on the Helpdesk server:

     

    Touchpaper Software\Helpdesk\HDBIN32\InstallSupport\Crystal10\Setup.exe

    Run this setup file with administrator privileges on the machine. After this restart the computer and run the reports again.
