Is there a way to update the record company name on a broad scale but just one word regardless of it's position using Global Replace?

Version 5

Is there a way to update the record company name on a broad scale but just one word regardless of its position using Global Replace?

-We went from about five thousand records to about thirty thousand.  We use County and Cnty as well as Sheriff Sheriffs and Sheriff's in over ten thousand records.  Is there a way to update the record company name on a broad scale but just the word?

    - Users are entering some parts of common company names as different things such as County or Cnty or Sheriff vs. Sheriff's.
    - This causes problems when users are searching because they may not have searched variances that are not similar such as the example of County and Cnty.
    - Is there a way to search and update all records in the company field to correct this?

NOTE: Prior to carrying out the steps below it is CRITICAL to make fresh SQL backups of the GoldMine database(s).  The changes below could be carried out incorrectly and make changes to the database in a broad fashion; these changes may not be easy or possible to undo.

1 - Login to GoldMine Premium Edition and click Tools > Data Management > Global Replace.
2 - Read and understand the cautionary alert which is similar to the NOTE above > Click OK.
3 - In the Global Replace Wizard select the option "Update a field using advanced options" > Next.

4 - In the "Update Field:" option select the field that is being updated.
5 - In the "Replace" drop-down type the word/string that is being searched (i.e. the 'incorrect' word/string).
6 - In the "Replace text with Value:" field type the word/string that the field should have (i.e. the 'correct' word/string).
    7 - Click Next.

NOTE: In this example we want the abbreviation CNTY changed to County

8 - In the next screen choose the filter or group this change should be applied to if it is all records choose "ALL Contact Records" > Next.

    9 - Click "Finish".

10 - The change will be applied now to the selected filter/group/ALL records as selected.
11 - Verify the change is correct.
NOTE: In this example, we changed the abbreviation CNTY to County AND only the specific word/string was replaced.

NOTE: This is also demonstrated as the second example in the following video:
