Version 11

This document provides information about the End of Life policy for Ivanti DSM products and HEAT branded versions of the same product lines (now part of the Ivanti family). The Ivanti Product Support Policy applies to the legacy products released under the Frontrange and HEAT brand names.

Ivanti products are constantly updated to meet the needs of rapidly changing IT environments. As new products are released, previous versions are supported and maintained for a certain amount of time, then retired.

The type of support for a given product release is defined below.

    End of Life Dates:

The information contained herein is believed to be accurate as of the date of publication, but updates and revisions may be posted periodically and without notice. Product support for older Ivanti products continues according to this schedule:

End of Life Announcement: Shortly after a new product version is released, an end-of-life (EOL) announcement is made for the previous version on this page.

Full Support / Code Correction: EOL plus 12 months. Full DSM product support will continue for one full year from the EOL announcement. Critical maintenance updates will continue to be released during this time. Code corrections provided for defects and critical issues.

Continued Customer Care Support: Continued product support will continue for 18 months from the EOL announcement. All current maintenance updates will be available. However, no new updates will be released after the Full Support has ended (12 months). Respond to inquiries via phone, email and forum. Provided by Ivanti's Product Support Team and related technical assistance websites.

Upgrades: Customers with systems running any of the three previous product versions can upgrade the environment to the newest product version. For example, systems running DSM solutions 7.3.0, 7.3.1 or 7.3.2 can upgrade to DSM solutions 7.3.3.

End of Life Dates regarding Patch Management Add-ons:

Currently DSM is running three different Patch Management Add-ons:

    • Classic Patch (MS only on Windows)
    • Advanced Patch Management (APM) (MS + 3rd party on Windows)
    • PatchLink (MS + 3rd party + Linux on Windows and Linux)

Our go forward plan for Patch Management is Advanced Patch Management (APM), which is based on the Shavlik technology, or alternatively, the 3rd party/multi-OS patch management included in the full EPM-S suite as part of the Ivanti UEM migration.

We are announcing the end-of-life of Classic Patch Management with the upcoming DSM 2018.1 product release. The module will continue to be supported for the next 18 months until September 2019. Support will consist of phone and online support.

We highly recommend customers take one of the following options:

    • Classic Patch customers that choose to stay on DSM need to migrate to DSM APM (Shavlik) at their earliest convenience. The upgrade process has not changed.
    • DSM customers ready to migrate to Ivanti UEM will have the 3rd party/multi-OS patch management included in the full EPM-S suite, which they will get at no additional license and maintenance cost.

If you are using PatchLink on Windows platforms exclusively, we recommend migrating to DSM APM (Shavlik) or Ivanti UEM with the included EPM-S suite at no cost.

    For DSM APM (Shavlik):

The Shavlik SDK 9.1 is on the EOL path and should not be used for new deployments. DSM 2016.2 R2 is the last version using 9.1 for APM. Even though DSM 2016.2 R2 has support beyond the following date, users with APM by then should migrate to DSM 2017 (which moves to the 9.2.5 SDK) Depending on our release schedule, we seriously consider the 9.2/9.3 SDK in future releases.

For DSM Classic Patch (Security Patch Deployment):

We are announcing the end-of-life of Classic Patch Management with the upcoming DSM 2018.1 product release. The module will continue to be supported for the next 18 months until September 2019. Support will consist of phone and online support.

End of Life Dates regarding HEAT License Manager:

This change impacts HEAT License Manager customers immediately.

    • Existing HEAT License Manager customers with current maintenance and subscription contracts will be supported on version 6.2 in the 18 months transition period (through February 2019)
      Updates available: https://www.brainwaregroup.com/en/support/downloads/heat-software/
