RES ONE Workspace Agent on Microsoft Windows 10 client not establishing connection to RES ONE Workspace Relay Server.

Version 1

    Problem

RES ONE Workspace Agent on a Microsoft Windows 10 client cannot find the RES ONE Workspace Relay Server environment.

The Microsoft Windows 10 Event Log on the agent computer shows the error:

"A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 40. The Windows SChannel error state is 813."

A trace of the RES ONE Workspace Agent shows pwrcache.exe handshake errors and res.exe handshake failures while trying to connect with the affected Relay Server.

A test with "%RESPFDIR%\res.exe /configdb" returns a connection failed error when trying to connect to the Relay Server.

This issue also occurs with a RES Workspace Manager Agent.

    Solution

    Solution 1:

This issue is resolved in RES ONE Workspace 2015 SR1 (9.10.1.0).

    Solution 2:

As a workaround, change the certificate security level for the self-signed certificate used by the RES Workspace Manager or RES ONE Workspace Relay Server to a value higher than 512.

    32-bit:

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RES\Workspace Manager\RelayServer
    Value: CertificateKeyLength
    Type: REG_DWORD
    Data (Decimal): 1024, 2048 or 4096

    64-bit:

    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\RES\Workspace Manager\RelayServer
    Value: CertificateKeyLength
    Type: REG_DWORD
    Data (Decimal): 1024, 2048 or 4096
