Microsoft Internet Explorer policy for Trusted Sites not applied

Version 1

    Problem

    Consider the following scenario:

There is a User Registry policy in RES ONE Workspace based on inetres.admx for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.

In this policy, one or more URLs have been configured to be set as Trusted Sites.

These URLs do not show in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMapKey nor in Microsoft Internet Explorer, when you open the Trusted Sites list in Internet Options.

    Cause

Trusted Sites will not be set in a user session while Microsoft Internet Explorer Enhanced Security is active.

    Solution

Enabling or disabling Microsoft Internet Explorer Enhanced Security can not be done from the inetres.admx policy file.

For a single machine: Disable Microsoft Internet Explorer Enhanced Security on the Local Server screen in your Server Manager.

For multiple machines: Create the following registry entry under User Registry in the RES ONE Workspace console.

    SystemKey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zonemap
    ValueName: IEHarden
    DataType: REG_DWORD
    ValueData: 0
