In RES ONE Workspace the folder $RECYCLE.BIN is displayed in the Windows 8.1 Start Menu

Version 1

    Problem

    Consider the following situation:

    • Microsoft Windows 8.1 /  Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2 is used.
    • Folder Redirection is configured to redirect the users AppData or Start Menu to a network location.
    • In the RES ONE Workspace Console the option at Composition > Desktop > Lockdown and Behavior > "Enable Windows 8.1 Start Menu (Windows 8.1 / 2012 R2)" is enabled.

In this situation when something is deleted or moved to the Microsoft Windows Recycle Bin, the folder $RECYCLE.BIN will popup in the Windows 8.1 Start Menu feature in the RES ONE Workspace session.

    Cause

When a folder is redirected to a network location Microsoft Windows will create a hidden system file named, Recycle.bin

The Windows 8.1 Start Menu feature from RES detects the creation of this file and shows a junction to that file which results in the $RECYCLE.BIN folder to be displayed.
