Even though KeepQL is set, taskbar shortcuts are still removed from a redirected AppData

Version 3

    Problem

    Consider the following scenario:
    • Folder Redirection is used to redirect AppData to a network location.
    • Shortcuts are pinned to the taskbar.
    • The registry key KeepQL is set to prevent the removal of the shortcuts after logging off.
    • A second session is started and logged off.
In this scenario the shortcuts on the taskbar of the first session no longer work.

    Note:

The registry key KeepQL is described in this article: QuickLaunch shortcuts are removed after log on off on Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 or Microsoft Windows 7
