Quick Access Toolbar items for the Microsoft Windows File Explorer are not retained

Version 1

    Problem

In Microsoft Windows 8 and higher the Quick Access Toolbar items that are stored on the Ribbon of the File Explorer are not retained when users roam to another location.

The Quick Access Toolbar can only contain icons from the Ribbon. This should not be confused with the 'Quick access' list.
The 'Quick access' can contain (favorite) folders added to the list by the option ' Pin to Quick access'.

This option becomes available when selecting a folder in the File Explorer and opening the Context Menu.

    Cause

This behavior is by design of Microsoft Windows 8 and higher.

    Solution

Create a User Setting that captures the Quick Access Toolbar settings, create a new global User Setting in the RES Workspace Manager console that captures the following registry tree:

    Type: Registry tree
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Ribbon

Configure the User Setting to "Capture targeted items on session end".
