ProblemConsidering the following scenario:
- Windows Shell shortcut creation is set to "Do not create shortcuts".
- Active Setup is not disabled via RES Workspace Manager Console.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or 9 is used.
- Clean new profile is used.
In this scenario when a user logs on for the first time, the Active Setup (first time shell init) becomes active. When the Active Setup is finished, there is no Microsoft Internet Explorer icon pinned on the taskbar. This only applies if "Do not create shortcuts" is configured as Windows Shell shortcut creation.
When the Windows Shell shortcut creation is set to "Merge with unmanaged shortcuts" or "Replace all unmanaged shortcuts" the Microsoft Internet Explorer icon will be pinned on the taskbar.
This scenario is not in place when Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 or higher is used.
CauseActive Setup depends on explorer.exe.
Due to the fact that the explorer.exe is not available when Active Setup (first time shell init) is active, we cannot pin the Microsoft Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.
