WebGuard does not work when Internet Explorer is started from a Java package

Version 1

    Problem

When Java is packaged as an add-on to Microsoft Internet Explorer WebGuard is not functioning properly.

Websites do not get filtered anymore and the WebGuard add-on is not loaded into Microsoft Internet Explorer.

    Cause

WebGuard is not registered within the package. When Internet Explorer is started using a packaged Java add-on the locally installed Browser Helper Objects are disregarded.

    Solution

During packaging and after Java has been installed, register WebGuard.

A tool to register WebGuard is available upon request from RES Support.
