Cannot print from Windows Photo Viewer

Version 1

    Problem

When you view a picture with Windows Photo Viewer and you want to print it by clicking the print option in the menubar nothing happens, the print wizard will not be started.

    Cause

Read-Only Blanketing is restricting access to the %systemroot% folder with read-only folder permissions while modify is needed.

When you check the Read-Only Blanketing log you will notice several processes being blocked.

    Solution

To get the Windows Photo Viewer working with the Read-Only Blanketing option enabled, authorize the following in Global Authorized Files.

    Rundll32.exe:
    Authorized file (path): %systemroot%
Allow only this specific process to launch or access this file: rundll32.exe
    Authorized operation: Read Execute Modify

    dllhost.exe:
    Authorized file (path): %systemroot%
Allow only this specific process to launch or access this file: dllhost.exe
    Authorized operation: Read Execute Modify

    Note:

If Read-Only Blanketing is not needed it will be easier just to disable this option.
