Event ID 0 with Source pfxa7 reported in the Microsoft Windows Application Event Log

Version 1

    Problem

    Citrix XenApp 7.x machines report the following error in the Microsoft Windows Application Event Log.

    Source:        pfxa7
    Event ID:      0
    Task Category: None
    Level:         Error
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          N/A
    Computer:
    Description:   Error in ExceptionHandler.GetStackTrace, Line: -1 (PipelineBase.Invoke,  : You do not have the required permissions to perform this operation.)

    Cause

    Username and Password is not configured for the Delivery Controller communication.

    Communication with the Citrix XenApp environment needs to be done using an account with at least "Delivery Group Administrator" permissions.

    A part of this communication is done using the pfxa7.exe executable and permissions are used from one of the following configurations.

    *       The username and password that is configured in the following node;
                    Setup>Integration>Application Virtualization>Citrix XenApp Publishing

    *       The username and password that is configured for the RES Workspace Manager Agent Service

    A combination of both is not recommended, just one needs to be configured with a correct account that has "Delivery Group Administrator" permissions.

    If this configuration is incorrect, the error messages will appear in the Microsoft Windows Event Log and the integration will not work as expected.

    Solution

    Configure a username and password for the communication in one of the following locations;

    *       Configure a username and password in the following node in the RES Workspace Manager Console;
                    Setup>Integration>Application Virtualization>Citrix XenApp Publishing

    Or

    *      Configure a username and password for the RES Workspace Manager Agent Service

    Note:

    The user needs to be at least a "Delivery Group Administrator"
