Error: "Another installation is currently in progress" when deploying a task

    Issue

    When deploying software to a client machine, the following error displays in the console:
    "Another installation is currently in progress"

    Cause

    1. Another installation is currently in progress.
    2. Sdclient.exe or vulscan.exe is already running.
    3. The pending file rename key has been set and the machine requires a reboot to install new software.

     

    Resolution

    1. Wait for the other installations to finish.
    2. If one is hung, kill the hung process and retry the task.
    3. Rebooting the machine will often remove the key and allow the package to install.
