LANDesk Patch News Bulletin: Microsoft has Rereleased MS09-029 and it is Available in LANDesk Content 14-AUG-2009

Version 3

    LANDesk Security and Patch News

    ·        (August 14,2009) Microsoft updated MS09-029 to version 2.0 on August 11, 2009. The bulletin was rereleased to reoffer the updates for all supported editions of Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. This is to address a known issue with the original updates for these platforms. Microsoft recommends that customers apply the update immediately.

This is the original information provided by Microsoft with the initial release of this bulletin on July 14, 2009 - This security update resolves two privately reported vulnerabilities in a Microsoft Windows component, the Embedded OpenType (EOT) Font Engine. The vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution. An attacker who successfully exploited either of these vulnerabilities could take complete control of an affected system remotely. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.
