The Agent Management page is used to manage License Optimizer import and export agents; it is accessed by selecting the Agent Management option in the Configuration category on the navigation bar:
License Optimizer provides import and export agents – software programs that act as intermediary programs between License Optimizer and other platforms that the user wishes to import data from or export data to.
The Import Agent is used when data is being imported into License Optimizer and may be downloaded by selecting the required version of the import agent from the Download Import Agent drop-down list shown at the top of the page:
The Export Agent is used when data is being exported from License Optimizer and may be downloaded by selecting the required version of the import agent from the Download Export Agent drop-down list shown at the top of the page:
When either agent has been downloaded, the user will need to run the downloaded executable file to install and configure the agent.
Agent configurations are held in Bootstrap XML files; these files hold the basic information required to allow the agent to start itself and connect to License Optimizer in order to obtain its configuration and import or export data. The user may use the Agent Tool to assist in creating a bootstrap XML file for their requirements; the Agent Tool can be downloaded by clicking the Download Agent Tool shown at the top right of the page:
The user may also configure their own bootstrap XML files without using the Agent Tool, and the bootstrap XML file templates for the import agent and the export agent can be downloaded by selecting the required option from the Download Bootstrap XML drop-down list shown at the top right of the page:
The Agent Tool is downloaded as an executable file; the user will need to run the downloaded executable file to install the Agent Tool.
When agents have been installed and configured, they will communicate with License Optimizer and will be displayed in the Agent List on the Agent Management page:
From this list, the user may see all agents that have been configured for License Optimizer; for each agent, the agent type, agent version and created date are shown. The Status column indicates whether the agent is running and the Last Status indicates any issues that occurred when the agent last ran.
The user may view and edit agent settings by clicking the Settings button for the appropriate agent; this will display the Agent Settings pop-up screen:
From this screen, the user may amend the agent name, the interval (how regularly the agent runs) and polltime (how often License Optimizer contacts the agent).
The user may pause the agent by checking the Pause checkbox. The user may also specify shutdown times for the agent (times between which the agent will not run); shutdown times may be added by clicking the Add button (shown in the Shutdown Times section) to display the Shutdown Time pop-up screen:
The user should specify the Start Time and the End Time for the shutdown period (these will be the times between which the agent will not run) and click the OK button.
Any shutdown times are displayed in the Shutdown Times list. Shutdown times may be edited or deleted by clicking the Edit or Delete button shown next to the appropriate entry.
When the user has completed any editing of the agent settings, the user should click the Save button to save the changes; clicking the Close button will discard any changes made.
Recover Bootstrap XML
The Recover Bootstrap XML button shown in the Agent List allows the user to download a copy of the bootstrap XML file for the selected agent.
