What are the different accounts that are used on the Management Gateway?

    The following accounts are used on the LANDesk Management Gateway Appliance.

     

    This is from the Gateway Administration page.

    admin - This is the default admin account that is used to administer the Appliance.  This password is set to "admin" by default.  It is highly recommended that this password be changed after installation.

     

    This account is the only account that can be used for SSH access to the LANDesk Management Gateway Appliance.

     

    service - This account is used to connect to the LANDesk Management Gateway Service that runs on the core server.  After install, the password for this account is also set to "admin".  It is highly recommended that this password be changed after installation.

     

    This password must be entered into the Configure | Management Gateway screen on the core server as seen below.

    Additional user accounts can be created as desired, either for gateway logins so that machines can be remote controlled, or to allow different users to administer the gateway without having SSH access.

     

    To create additional users, go to the Users tab, and click the Add button as shown below:

    Enter the required information as shown below.

    The Organization MUST be set to *, and a strong password MUST be used.

     

    If the Organization is set to anything other than an "*" then no users will show up in the list for machines to remote control.

     

    NOTE: Even if the "Admin Privileges" box is checked, that user will not be able to use SSH to access the core server.  That is restricted to the Admin user.
