How to determine if your UWM licenses exist on endpoints

Version 2

    Introduction

You may wonder how to determine if the licenses that you have uploaded to the Management Server are represented on your endpoints and if they are correctly seen.

    Locations

Licenses from the Management Server are pulled automatically by the Client Communications Agent at every poll period. These are actively inquired, meaning that a change in the Management Console will be represented on an endpoint on the next poll.

    Ivanti UWM / AppSense 8.x

Licenses on 8.x exist in registry in two locations:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppSense Technologies\Communications Agent\LicensingKeys
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\AppSense Technologies\Licensing\Config

Here you will find values that represent each individual license.

    Ivanti UWM 10.x

Licenses on 10.x exist in registry and file system in the following locations:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\AppSense Technologies\Licensing
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppSense Technologies\Communications Agent\LicensingKeys (for legacy keys)
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\AppSense Technologies\Licensing\Config
    • C:\ProgramData\AppSense\Licenses

The file location is authoritative. The file will be a simple text format with a .LIC extension that has the license key in it. Any 8.x keys are in the old locations.
