The CoreDataMigration.exe utility allows the settings files from an old core to be transferred to a new core server.

This utility DOES NOT migrate database information. It only gathers files from the core server.  It will gather:

    • Core Certificate files
    • Inventory LDAPPL files
    • Remote Console layout files
    • Custom Scripts

The utility DOES NOT gather things that can be exported/imported using the console, such as Agent Configuration, Agent Settings, etc.

NOTE: DATABASE INFORMATION IS NOT GATHERED.  To restore a SQL database, please refer to LANDesk Community Article 2177.

    Steps to gather core settings:

    1.  On the source core server, create a folder called CoreBackup.

    2.  On the source core server open a CMD window and browse to the \\[Your Core Server]\ldmain share or \program files\landesk\managementsuite folder.

    3.  From the command line on the source core server type the following command:

    [drive]:\program files\landesk\managementsuite\CoreDataMigration.exe GATHER {drive]:\[path]\CoreBackup

It may be necessary in some situations to use a local backup directory to work around NTFS and share permissions.

NOTE: The word GATHER must be all capital letters

The following folders will be created.

These folders contain the configuration files from the old core server.

    Steps to RESTORE core settings:

From the command line on the target core server type the following command:

    [drive]:\program files\landesk\managementsuite\CoreDataMigration.exe RESTORE {drive]:\[path]\CoreBackup
