Issues Re-installing Remote Console 2018.1+ After Using EPM tool

    Purpose

    The purpose of this document is to help resolve issues re-installing the Remote Console after having run the EPM tool (About the EndPoint Manager (EPM) Tool ).  This document pertains ONLY to remote console version 2018.1 and up.

     

    Problem

    After running the EPM tool the setup.exe either crashes after loading the splash box, or gives an error that an install is already present and can not be removed.

     

    Cause

    This is caused by using the EPM tool to uninstall a Remote Console running on 2018.1 or higher. 

     

    Solution

     

    1. Navigate to your core server directory under C:\Program Files\Landesk\ManagementSuite\ldmain and run uninstallWinclient.exe (This will reboot your machine)
    2. Run the Microsoft Fixit tool here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-installed-or-removed and have it remove all Landesk and Ivanti software entries.
    3. Re-run setup.exe and it should now work.
