I have tested it but it doesn't work as the Package Builder Wizard.
What i want is the same system as the package builder Wizard, it scan the hole system. Then you install your software and it scans again the system.
From the difference between these two searches, he created a self executable package.
It is something like i am looking for but compatible windows7 and vista.
Any help is highly appreciated.
What you are referring to is a snapshot. I would recommend that you only use a snapshot as a last resort, since it can cause issues. In a perfect world you would never need to snapshot, however, there are times when the vendor does not provide an application that can be installed systematically via command line options.
You have a couple of options:
- Try the limited repackager in the lite version to see if it works for you.
- Upgrade to Admin Studio Standard.
- LANDesk/Vmware Application Virtulization - Does nothing but snapshots.
- Evaluate other tools - http://www.installsite.org/pages/en/tt_corp.htm
Most products are moving away from exe creation and are concentrating on MSI. Adminstudio and others have snapshot free repacakging. Here is a decision tree to decide whether the package needs to be repackaged http://www.myitforum.com/articles/6/view.asp?id=11775
Thanks a lot for your response.
In fact, the snapshot way have been until now perfect for me. When i can found MSI installer i do use them but i log of cases i use SWD.
My knowledge for create packages is non existent, that is why the snapshot way is the only one i want to use because of the time and my knowledge.
I will check your points your proposed softwares.
ZMan mentioned AdminStudio. There is a free version you can get with LANDesk. It is what is officially replacing package builder, which doesn't work on Vista or newer.
Information can be found here:
Is there any hope that AdminStudio will support windows 7 or vista in the future ?

Sorry I was a little unclear.
Package Builder does not work with Vista or higher.
AdminStudio should work with both Vista and 7, and is the replacement for Package Builder going forward.
Okay, this is much better. It means that Landesk provide a package builder software to distribute. cool.
I am currently downloading it.
Juste a little question, does it also work with snapshot systems ?
It is exclusively a snapshot system.
See item 1 above and what Mach6 indicated. It is called Repackaging Wizard
One thing to note is that LANDesk does not plan on shipping Package Builder in future version (starting with 9.0). We have partnered with the folks at AdminStudio and provide a limited version of AdminStudio free to existing customers. Though we won't be shipping Package Builder we will support the distribution of those packages within the support boundaries of package builder in 9.0. I guess what I am saying is check out AdminStudio
If i understand well, you mean that Landesk will not provide Package Builder with the version 9 of Landesk ?
I am currently testing Adminstudio lite and unfortunately, it doesn't seems to work with windows seven(Build 7600 X64). Any package created gives an error message.
Is there a Forum speaking about Adminstudio here in Landesk ? The Flexera forums seems to be empty.
Just to add some information about my experience in these last two weeks.
Adminstudio has not worked for any of my specific applications with cannot be installed with a command line.
I tested Wininstall LE and it has worked perfectly for two software until now, even windows seven has worked well.
