I looked through the ER list and dug through posts, but I didn't not find any information on this... which honestly surprised me a little bit.
We're a LANDesk v9 SP2 shop and I was disappointed to see that the 'repeat' tasks options are still limited after the upgrade. What I mean by this is that the current repeat hourly-daily-weekly-monthly are great and can be very useful, however, what if I need to repeat a task the 3rd Saturday of every month? What if I want to deploy Mon-Weds-Friday of the first week of every other month? Get my point? This option is readily available in many other schedule type applications, system management software, and even the new Window's scheduler.
For example... we have certain servers and to a lesser extent some workstations which can only have maintenance run at certain times of the week, month, quater, and year. I'll use my previous reference to the 3rd Saturday in this instance. There is no way I can think of to do this without opening up the SDK and coding it myself. This is useful because right now I can't "set-it-and-forget-it"... which is the whole point for me with LANDesk and creating automation. If we come up with a well defined process with known parameters I still have to go back in to what should be a 'standard change' with a regular window and reschedule it after each push. If I only had 2 or 3 maintenance windows it would be fine, but we have so many different classifications for hardware/software and levels of risk/impact that we have to do many maintenance windows within a well defined ITSM type change. This little gem is actually biting us because we want to use LANDesk to perform PCI and Sox type changes and get LDMS/LDSS certified for these type of tasks in our environment but we're getting flack from our management and the auditors for not being able to do this natively.
So, before I go over and file an ER and go talk to some LANDesk folk... did anyone else out there come up with a solution to this? Am I being dense? Does anyone else wish they could do this?
