Seems maybe I never actually created the request so I did. Start voting!
The BOO web site used to be ok but since they went to WIKI, a lot of the examples got lost. Seems that porting over did not go well. You can still see where they say look below and there is a very thin box with no code example inside. It is better than it was before but still pretty poor.
I have never found any useful info in the log files. It tells you there is an error but not where. It returns a value but you don't know why it is the wrong value. Googling the .net functions are definitely the best source of info on a statement. The biggest issue I see with BOO is the lack of a debugger of course but also just a lack of examples in an organized place. I learned a lot by looking at how others did things like working with collections, boolean values, working with dates, stepping through collections, etc.
It looks as if you did raise an ER for this already. Could you please let me know whether you can see it from this link / if you search? I am just a bit concerned we have a problem with the ER area after the community upgrade yesterday as we had a report of a different issue in this section.
Funny I could not find it before but yes that link is my suggestion. (I was sure I made one)
Can you kill/hide/merge http://community.landesk.com/support/ideas/2829? I don't think we need two suggestions.
Your link does not work but what you display is correct.
http://community.landesk.com/support/ideas/2706 is the correct link to vote on BOO debugging tools.
Is there any chance LANDesk will create a manual dedicated to calculations? We could not live without calculations and I suspect that everyone will be using them more and more. Yet there isn't a lot of official information from LANDesk. Almost seems like there is enough material there that a class could be made.
I'm afraid I don't have the "power" to move the votes from one ER to another. The ER area is really owned by the Product Management team. I have put a comment referencing between them though so that Product Management will know to take all votes and comments into account.
I will pass on your feedback about training or a manual on calculations, I think that's an excellent idea.
