    Software Asset Management within Service Desk


      Hi All


      I'm new to LANDesk and have been asked to find out if there is anyway to capture software assets within the existing Service Desk product, I know that we currently have hardware assets but looking to expand this out.

          Yes indeed.  A simple way would be to create some more CI types with the various software assets you want to record and then manage them the same way you are managing your hardware assets.  You'd need to add some extra attributes (probably) and some windows (certainly) Things to look out for are if you can get a system to audit the software that has been installed for you.  LDMS does this and a lot more besides.  It's potentially quite a big subject but an initial sugegstion would be to do what you do with the hardware assets.
