    Database Setup Wizard

    Apprentice

      Hi Folk,

      Just trying to setup 7.3.2 on our dev server, but when I get to the Database Setup Wizard, I get an error....

      We are using an Oracle server, with a DB & user setup, but no tables

      I get to the part where it asks for the dump file, but when I click next I get an unhandled exception, saying the system cannot find the file specified (see screen dump attached, and paste of complete message below)

      I can TNSPing the DB from the server, and I can connect to the DB..

      Any suggestions?

      Cheers,

      Stu

      just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

      ************** JIT Debugging **************
      To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
      application or computer (machine.config) must have the
      jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
      The application must also be compiled with debugging
      enabled.

      For example:

      <configuration>
          <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
      </configuration>

      When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
      will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
      rather than be handled by this dialog box.

          IMHO Stuart your best bet is to always restore the copy of the DB to a new schema and then take the upgrade path through the wizard.  In fact to be fair I rarely use the wizard bit because all it does really is punch in values to run up config.aspx.  As that process is sometimes fraught with the case of passwords getting changed in their case, I've fallen into a habit of just running config.aspx by hand.

          Also make sure the network service account has modify access to the oracle home on the server and reboot the server before running config.aspx.  Otherwise you tend to be told that an Oracle 8.1.7 (!) client or later needs to be installed when in fact you have.
