    LDAV install, uninstall q's

    Apprentice

      All,

      I'd like to uninstall the old AV and install LDAV... and in some cases (where the installer didn't finish for whatever reason) I'd like to re-install.

      Should I script the various options all on one line, or one line at a time, or in seperate scripts?   For example, can you:

      REMEXEC0=Vulscan.exe /RemoveAV /RemoveOldAV /InstallAV

      or should I

      REMEXEC0=Vulscan.exe /RemoveAV

      REMEXEC0=Vulscan.exe /RemoveOldAV

      REMEXEC0=Vulscan.exe /InstallAV

      --or should I ---

      ... put each of the lines above in their own script???

      Bottom line is that I want to minimize the time that the target system is WITHOUT AV protection (old or new).

      What do y'all think??

      TIA!

      -B

          I think you should do it all in the same script, but with separate commands:

          REMEXEC0=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /RemoveAV

          REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /RemoveOldAV

          REMEXEC2=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /InstallAV

            Seconding what dportillo has said.

            Remember that in a custom script, each line must have a unique number.

            So:

            ""

            REMEXEC0=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /RemoveAV

            REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /RemoveOldAV

            REMEXEC2=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /InstallAV

            ""

            Is fine. However, as you wrote:

            ""

            REMEXEC0=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /RemoveAV

            REMEXEC0=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /RemoveOldAV

            REMEXEC0=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\Vulscan.exe<qt/> /InstallAV

            ""

            Will cause you problems.

            Each number (##) behind a REMEXEC## MUST be unique. It doesn't matter so much that they're in sequence (scripts are worked through top to bottom), but they MUST be unique.

              Thanks all for the great answers.

              That works like a charm... built the script and got it running.

              Meanwhile, vulscan seems to always be in the client path so

              REMEXEC0=Vulscan /RemoveAV    (without all the quoted data) seems to be sufficient.

              REMEXEC1=Vulscan /RemoveOldAV

              REMEXEC2=Vulscan /InstallAV
