It might not be quite the solution you are looking for, but you could add a query as a prerequisite to each software task that excludes XP based machines.

Well, your answer is helpfull actually. It made me think about the way we distribute software.
Now, we use LDAP queries as targets for the sheduled tasks. Is it possible to add a query which targets only non-Windows XP workstations? If so, how does LANDesk resolve more than 1 target?
Yes, you can create a query that uses "Computer"."OS"."Name" in inventory to check for name not like "Microsoft Windows XP". That should give you all devices that don't have XP as the operating system.
This will return multiple devices and Landesk will add all those matching the query to the task.
Hope that helps
It's not what we are looking for, but thanks anyway.
I'll file a case with LANDesk support instead.
If you do not plan to use LDMS to distribute software to the XP machines you could create a seperate Agent for the XP boxes with software distribution unchecked.
You can also use a prerequisite query in your Software Distribution Packages. This is a regular LANDesk query that can be something like OS must be Win7 or not like XP. That way you can still target LDAP groups and let LANDesk check the pre-req query before it tries to install the software.
Thanks for the reply! This could well be the solution. I'll check this out.
For the time beaing, we've come up with another solution for this case: making sure the agent won't install on the computers with the problems.
See you soon! Cheers,
