      How To:

      Once the custom data form has been created and the clients configured to receive the custom data form and fill it in when the inventory scan runs, the LDSCHLP.INI needs to be have the /fe switch at the end of the launch statement in the section.

      The LDSCNHLP.INI is found on the client PC at, C:\LCDLIENT

      Example LDSCNHLP.INI:

      LAUNCH1=C:\LDClient\LDCSTM32.EXE /fe

      TIMEOUT1=600

      DATA1=C:\LDClient\LDCUSTOM.DAT

      Am I to understand that unless this mod is made, that the filling in of the form is merely "optional"?

      ( If you've seen my other postings, you've seen that I'm still trying to understand how this is supposed to work...AND...actually get it to work. )

          Please put the contents of a file inside something like your file data here

          Then it will show up like

          [EXECUTE WIN16]

          [EXECUTE WIN32]
          LAUNCH1=C:\LDClient\LDCSTM32.EXE /fe
          TIMEOUT1=600

          [DATA FILES]
          DATA1=C:\LDClient\LDCUSTOM.DAT

          Click on the Plain Text tab and then click Plain Text Markup Help for more information.

            This is actually a fairly straight forward feature.  I am not sure why you are struggling.  That option is just a check box in the GUI, you don't have to do some special modification.

            Custom Data Forms can either go down as part of the agent, or go down as a scheduled task.

            Step 1 - Creating a Custom data form
            1. Make the custom data form (that is the easy part).

            2. Give it a name and a description (until you do the Add button is greyed out)

            3. Click add.

            4. Enter the question field.

            5. Enter the inventory name.  The name here will show up in inventory under Custom Data - Forms - Form Name - Inventory Name.  It will only show up once the form has been filled out and a full inventory scan runs.  For example, if your Custom Data form is named "Location" and the inventory value name is Building then you will see this value in inventory under Custom Data - Forms - Location - Building.

            6. When creating the custom data form, when adding an Inventory Value, click the check box on whether the fields are required to fill out or not.  Otherwise it is not required.  If it is required, you have to fill it out to close the window.

            Step 2 - Adding a custom data form as part of an agent
            1. Go to Tools | Configuration | Agent Configuration

            2. Open the properties of the Agent

            3. Look under the Custom Data Forms tab and add the custom data form to go down with the agent.

            4. Configure in the agent whether to run at (1) Startup, (2) when inventory scanner runs, or (3) when launched from the LANDesk program folder.

            Step 2 - (Alternate Method) Deploying a custom data form
            1. Right click on the Custom Data Form and choose to schedule it.

            2. Assign some machines as a target

            3. Click start now.

            (Note: If you do this you won't have the agent option to run at (1) Startup, (2) when inventory scanner runs, or (3) when launched from the LANDesk program folder.)

            Step 3 - Running the custom data form

            If you properly configured this in the agent it will run like it you configured it to run. (1) Startup, (2) when inventory scanner runs, or (3) when launched from the LANDesk program folder.)

            Otherwise you have to manually run it by going to Start | All Program | LANDesk Management | Custom Data Forms
