    Unable to connect to relocated 8.8 Database

           Our old 8.8 database was sitting on a SQL 2000 SP4 box, i've so far had my new 9.0 installation up and running for some time and migrated all of my servers across which has all gone reasonably well. We took a backup of the original database to import for the basis of the 9 install and that all worked fine.

       

           In the background however to ensure that our 500 or so client desktops / laptops etc can stay patched etc we have also been working in our 8.8 core to those clients that have not yet been migrated across as we dont have a particularly easy way to migrate them all at once (the client self install is now upto about 180 meg including the A/V - which needs to get rolled out to each client across 70 or so remote locations).

       

           Anyway, thats side story, so what i have done recently as its time to finally retire the old sql 2000 box is take a backup of the database, install sql 2005 express on my core, import the database following the guide: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-7780

       

           However the server refuses to connect to it, i keep getting 'Error Connecting to the Inventory Database' message, no matter which user profile in SQL i use (be is sa or LandeskUser). Ive also followed the guide to create an odbc connection to the database to ensure connectivity is available (http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-5876) and it works without an issue using both sa / LandeskUser sql accounts.

       

           What i am unable to find is any sort of logs or events logged in the system to give me some sort of idea as to why i am unable to connect. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
