In my company, we reimaged computer with provisionning script, and we have create a task to apply a group of patch.
In this group, we add the new patchs weekly to maintain the computer safe.
Agree with Pleix that Provisioning is the way to go if you want to do stuff like patching as part of your imaging process.
This document lists the various ways that provisioning can be used with patching.
Option 3 is probably the best, it just uses autofix to deploy patches that you've already tested. This means you don't have to maintain a seperate patch group.
Do you reimage you computers using the LD OS deployment? Today in my company we still using GHOST and we will change it to LD OS Dep. but it will be in January.
The methods said here http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-10964 is useful to my case?
Ghost can be implemented in conjunction with LANDesk Provisioning. Provisioning can use any imaging tool that can be run from the command line, like Ghost or ImageX, or LANDesk's own tool - it really doesn't matter. So, yes - there's no reason why this document wouldn't be applicable to you!
"%LD_CLIENT_DIR%\vulscan.exe" /agentbehavior=<xxx> /nosync
at the end of all my provisioning-templates - where <xxx> scan&repair setting is using autofix.
This topic is opening my mind, thank you!
But I have some questions.
1 - The provisioning should be used only in reimage computers?
2 - I read this doc http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-10964, but I dont know how include it in a image.
3 - What can I do with provisioning? Do you have examples of proviosioning template to use in my company? Because I saw that there are a lot of options.
I've attached many examples of provisioning template. This template are build in LDMS 8.8 SP4. I don't know if the reimport in version 9 works correctly.
Thank you Pleix -
Another question, once I've create my provisioning script how should I associate it with the new computers?
You schedule your template, and after it works like another task for prepare your computer.
