I recently installed Landesk 9.0, as part of a migration from 8.8 and have run into this issue.
When I login to the Management Console from the Core server, it opens fairly quickly. When I login from my computer, it seems to hang at 'Initializing the network tree' for a very long time (at least 45 minutes), and when I check the Console.exe log in the Log folder I find the following:
08/16/2010 08:02:41 INFO 2748:Main Thread RollingLog : OSDPresenter.cs: ReadValue() error withObject reference not set to an instance of an object. 08/16/2010 08:02:52 INFO 2748:Main Thread RollingLog : updateScript generic sample dir command success 08/16/2010 08:03:07 INFO 2748:Main Thread RollingLog : updateScript Capture Base Desktop success 08/16/2010 08:03:52 INFO 2748:Main Thread RollingLog : updateScript Deploy Lenovo R61 success
And it keeps going - it seems like every time I login from my computer, the console has to sit and chew on every deployment script. But it doesn't happen when I login to the Console from the Core server.
I've already tried reinstalling the Console on my computer. What else should I be looking for?
One thing to check is to make sure your ODBC entries in your PC for your SQL server are set correctly. If your SQL server has a non standard port for connecting to the database, you could experience severe delays.
