I had really bad experiences with imaging with VMWare ESXi. At least when i did it (it may have changed) EsXI only supported SCSI hard drives and supporting those drivers with imaging was a pain, even if you did get the image down, more than likely it wouldn't boot.
I moved to Vmware Workstation, which gives you the option to use IDE hard drives and different Nics. The default Nics work great too. Even the Free VirtualBox did well with image testing as long as I was able to use IDE hard drives.
Hope this helps and if you can get ESXi to work, please share your experience
Thank you EMiranda - I'll move to VMWare workstation and I hope it helps me. Basically I need do some tests and create a how to do using screen shots.
with VMware workstation you can even do videos
I apologize, i have not used virtual box in quite some time, since LANDesk ver 8.8 (which had winpe XP version). I just loaded it up again and it seems out of the box it does not have any Vista drivers to load into WinPE.
I have searched around and came up empty. I also loaded the vbox guest additions and extracted the drivers from there and loaded them into my winpe and they failed to load.
So I am experiencing the same issue as you and havn't found a solution.
No problem! Well I beleive the way is move to VMWare Workstation, I would like to avoid it because I'm using W7 and only the VMWare W. 7 works fine with W7 and for it is necessary license.
Thank you for now!
