FYI for lost of useful information on package deployment check out www.appdeploy.com
There are a few entries in the package KB for Sophos with command lines etc.
I succeed it but I do not uses it. I created a package from the Sophos CID folder, and i choosed "install from the source" method. It was working fine, but we still had to place the computer in the "managed computers folder" in sophos console.
So, this method is not very interesting.
had also the same problem with sophos, after creating an install package with sdp.
My solution was to create a simple autoit-Script. Why an autoit-Script and not a batch-file? Cause you have to install with credentials having access to the update folder and not everyone have to see this credentials.
\\"SophosServer"\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP\setup.exe -mng yes -user "domain"\"ServiceUser" -pwd "ServiceUser-Password"
This is how I did with a batch file... Good Luck
REM --- Check for an existing installation of Sophos AutoUpdate
if exist "C:\Program Files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\ALsvc.exe" goto _End
if exist "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\AutoUpdate\ALSVC.exe" goto _End
REM --- Deploy to Windows 2000/XP/2003
\\Server_name\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S001\SAVSCFXP\Setup.exe -mng yes -crt R -user domain\administrator -pwd "admin_password" -S -updp\Sophos_Server\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S001\SAVSCFXP
REM --- End of the script
