Trying to deploy a BAT based software distribution job with 3 files attached.  On multiple machines I receive this error, while machines on the same subnet/location/preferred server have no issue.

I've reset the HASH.  Could they be pulling from machines that have the incorrect hash?

      Any ideas?

      Thanks,

      Chris

So I talked to Tech Support (Tyler), and this issue appears to revolve around one, my permissions on the file share and file security, and two the type/config of my delivery method.

          First the permissions;

These permissions are on a Windows 2003 Server, and will vary on other equipment, such as a NetApp, which I also use.

The SHARE should be set up with permissions similar to this.  I specifically set the permissions to Full because most of my security is handled at the file level.

The FILE permissions should be set similar to this.

          8-24-2010 7-40-03 PM.png

          Everyone - Read Only

          System - Full Control

          Network Service - Full Control

          Domain Admins - Full Control

          Domain Users - Read Only

          Domain Computers - Full Control

Internet Guest Account - Read Only

          Administrators - Full Control

          Second, the delivery method issue.

I originally was using the Push delivery method, and enabled the Peer download only option.  This was after talking with a TSR and being told that that option would ensure that the clients would check Cache, Peer, AND Preferred Server, while not going over our WAN.  This was chosen because we have a preferred server at each of my locations.

After mentioning this to Tyler he confirmed with internal associates that unless my preferred server has a client installed is a Multicast Domain Representative the Peer download option will only grab the files from local cache and/or a peer.

So... because this option was checked and the peers that already had the files in the cache and software installed the previously cached files naturally wouldn't match after the HASH had changed (for various reasons).  Because of this the files couldn't be downloaded because no clients had them, or the clients that did were too busy sharing the files with other requesting clients, since XP has a limit of 10.

          Hope this helps someone.
