You will need to have server manager to most likely accomplish what you are trying to do.
I don't have any machines I can reboot right now to check this, but you may want to try the following. In server manager and your default ruleset, add an alert for System Boot / Restart (IPMI), set it to log as informational status and log alert at core. Try rebooting a box then and see if it logs it under Reports > Logs in server manager. Lets see if we can get it to show there first.
We do have server manager, I will try your suggestion out and let you know it this works.
sevich - I tried on two servers all the IPMI system reboot - system -restart - system - warm boot etc. and still no log or alert however if I remote into the server I can check the systeminfo | find "system uptime" and I can tell that the system has been rebooted or restarted. Any other suggestions?
I would pursue getting this information out of Server Manager, however, if you are in a bind or want another way of obtaining this information:
uptime \\servername /s
Can be scripted and piped to a text file.
