    Helpdesk 6.7 Database Cleanup

    Rookie

      Hi,

We are running helpdesk 6.7 on sql. Our database size is 3.7GB. Is it possible to cleanup this database by deleting notifications, alerts etc.

      Regards,

      Oliver

          Hi Oliver,

You can delete all rows from the logmsg_hdw table.  This table stores all the internal notifcations sent to each analyst (assignment, escalation and reminder notifications ).  These notifications are displayed in each analysts message list within Helpdesk.  If your analysts are not using the message list, I would advise you to clear this table weekly.  Having large numbers of rows in the LOGMSG_HDW table can cause performance issues within Helpdesk.

Check the number of rows in the QUEUE_HDW and QUEBUFFE_hdw tables.  These tables store the information that Autoemail uses to send external notifications.  If you are not using Change Manaer, you should not see any rows in the QUEUE_HDW table with an APPID of 'DESIGNERPLUS'.  If Autoemail is Configured and working correctly, QUEUE_HDW should not contain more than approx. 1000 rows as each row is removed once it is succesfully processed.

If you need assistance with the Autoemail Queue tables, please contact Support in your region.

          Regards,

            Hi Martyn,

Thanks for the update. I've had a look at this table but there only appears to be 333 rows in this table and only entries going back to 2009 (see graphic attached)

The last time we had an engineer on site (which is a number of years ago) our d/b was about 3GB and when she did a clean up it was back to about .5GB - Is there anything else we can look at or can we do a gotoassist session for you to have a look at our d/b

            Regards,

            Oliver

              Hi Oliver,

How many rows do you have in your QUEUE_HDW table?

We can do a remote session.  Please log a case on the Self-Service Portal if this is required.
