If by "log into windows" you mean "interactively login" - the answer is no, of course not.

Any user/service does need to "login" as such though (be it as local system or whatnot), so you will see activity from this.

The account gets created for certain actions (and makes our authentication life easier) ...

What are you talking about in regards to it clearing the windows password cache? It's not something that logs on and starts deleting passwords, if that's what you're thinking ...?

A clearer description of what you're seeing could help here - right now I'm more confused than anything, if possible .

The Scenario here is related to Mcafee endpoint encryption SSO details. Here CBA_anonymous account is showing as the preboot user id for login into Mcafee and no other user can login back to this who were previously used to .

We have recently pushed an upgrade of LANDESK client on these systems and after that this issue is coming in almost all the systems\laptops.Although we know that cba_anonymous id do not tries to login to windows but as a local account gets created in the systems for this id.

cba_anonymous account was showing in user id automatically in windows login as well.

Does this mean that landesk upgrade activity is pushing this account to flush the saved windows password cache and trying to login as a preboot user in Mcafee as Mcafee fetches the saved windows cache only to login into preboot screen.

I hope things are better clear now

            Thanks!!

They are a little bit clearer...

In this situation I think it would be best if you'd open up a ticket with support and that'll continue the dialogue a little more to the point. In particuarl, it might be a good thing if we could remote in, to actually see the problem ourselves that you're describing (as the adage goes - a second's worth of viewing can save a thousand words and all that).

It's posisble that we may need to look a little bit closer as to what McAfee's endpoint security is doing, since we've not really had any real problems with CBA_Anonymous thus far, and since this is already the 3rd thread with it being mentioned, it seems like quite a popular product to be adopted.

So if there's some problems we're running into when it's installed, it would probably be better to nip those in the bud sooner rather than later.
