Presumably though this problem must be to do with the WinPE image. When PXE booting to WinPE it comes up with the wallpaper we have loaded and finds the necessary drivers but when using an agent deployment the wallpaper in WinPE is the standard landesk one.
Therefore is there more than one WinPE image? it seems that i have injected the necessary drivers to one and not the other but i don't know where to look for another.
There is an LDVPE1.IMG file on the Core Server. It is configured for Vbooting.
When you deploy the PXE Representative, this is copied to the PXE Representative and altered for PXE Booting.
I don't know how you got a different one on your Core than on your PXE rep, but I have one idea:
My one idea: The LDVPE1.IMG is overwritten during Service Packs. So you could have made it how you wanted, deployed the PXE rep, then applied a service pack or something.
Anyway...hope that helps.

If it was the SP5 install (I think SP4 too) that overwrote your image, it would have made a backup in ldmain. I believe it's called ldvpe1.bak. Look for that.
If not, you may be able to simply copy the peboot.img file from your PXE rep to your core server, and rename it to ldvpe1.img. I can't remember if this works or not, but it's worth a shot. You would also want to back up or rename the existing ldvpe1.img first.
Thanks to you both. that is exactly the right answer and has fixed the problem. I'll definitely back those up before the next update.
