Minor issue - Strange WebDesk 7.4 behaviour

    Expert

      Hi Folks,

Playing around with the new WebDesk -  some great new stuff like the Report Templates which make query output look really professional.

But our test account seems to have become corrupted re its dashboard (screenshot attached).

We've restarted IIS, changed the dashboard, removed it and re-added it, restarted IIS, tried different browsers and PCs, republished, restarted IIS etc...

It only looks like this in Personalise Mode, but we think may have been caused by dragging a gadget and changing the mode almost simultaneously.

I think we need to clear this in the database, but not sure where it is?

Or does anyone have any other ideas?

      Many thanks - Adam.

Thanks - we've logged this with support, as well as the bug below.

Just posting here as a warning to others just in case  we are right about the exclamation mark (we could be wrong - we usually are!)

One of our testers created a Link gadget on a Web Access dashboard called "Useful Stuff!"  They then deleted it.
Since then we can't create any more Link gadgets at all - we get the error shown below.
We believe this wmay have been  caused by the exclamation mark so are happy to remove it  anyone knows the area where gadgets are stored.
Link gadgets look to be really useful.

              Hi folks,

A couple of other minor things we've found since testing began.  Thought I'd add them here rather than start lots of new threads as they are just comments really...

              (1) There seems to be no way to set System URL links as a shortcut.  Unlike other shortcuts, if you create a URL shortcut there is no option to set it as a System shortcut.  You can get around this by creating them on a dashboard with a links gadget instead - just thought it was strange...

              (2) WebDesk Links gadgets get added as Shortcut Groups in ShortCut manager (on the Console).  If you use these a lot it can get a bit confusing though you don't need to actuall interact with  them.    Might be tidier to be able to hide these in future?

              (3) One of WebDesks best features is the ability to customise queries by overlaying report templates and hiding criteria   It's a real shame you can't do this if you create a link to a query (well you can, but no way of saving your changes).  [Don't much like the new one criterion per line layout - if you have a complex query they take oiver much of the screen.  And you can't edit the CSS!).

But overall the new features are a massive improvment over the last version.

              Cheers - Adam.

                Hey,

Adam,  we've got that issue too (and a lot worse besides with Self Service).  Not usable for us right now.

                  Hi Adam,

What has happened is that the End User has been given a personal dashboard, so it's picking up the Personal Dashboard before the System Dashboard.

This has happened because this End User has been used as the "Anonymous User" setting which will set the selected Dashboard to that User.

This can be removed from the database by running the following script:

                  ------
                  Delete from tps_user_preference where tps_user_guid = (select tps_guid from tps_user where tps_name = 'XXXXXX' )
                  ------

Please remember to always have a fully restorable backup of your database before running any script and to always test on your test system first.

I have also found that you have logged this with Support, so I will inform Phil who owns this case. If you could please add your business impact on to the Incident that you logged we can forward it to our Product Management.

                  Kind Regards,

                  Jenny
