Sorry, forgot to state that this is with XP SP3 clients.
This is also not working for me, I am getting the same return code and message.
"User defined status -909(reboot needed)" is the exact error message.
The machine is able to access the folder where the profile is going to be stored. All administrators both LANDesk and otherwise also have full permission to the folder where profiles are going to be stored. No one is logged on to the machine when the profile script is running. I have rebooted the machine a number of times and I still get the same error message.
I have the same issue too.
Here is my log:

It seems that everything goes fine till get UMALoader.exe started. Let's analyze this step:
C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\UMALoader.exe -> program is located at the specified folder
C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\..\UMA\smabat.exe -> I don't really know which folder this should be but this executable is located at the following folder: C:\Program Files\LANDesk\UMA\
C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\sample_command_file.xml\ -> xml file is located at the specified folder
So I think there maybe problem with the script generating program as the path is generated incorrectly to smabat.exe and that's why the program is unable to run. I think an engineer should look into it.
we have been having issue with profile capture since LD 9 PS1
Unfortunatelly it is not the path as I checked and replaced the path variables in the script INI file with correct constant path but the issue still persits and the error message is the same. So it seems that UMAloader.exe or smabat.exe is failing. I opened a support ticket for the same issue yesterday.
Please check whether the scheduler account has access to the destination folder (\landesksvr\Landesk\Public\USMT\Migration-Store). The same issue was at my end.
Permissions on my migration store are correct, the scheduler service account has modify permissions to this folder. Still getting the same error.
Zoltan, have you heard anything from support on this? Thanks for your help.
As my issue was solved by correcting the permission to the destination folder (I set up a new destination folder which is stored on the Landesk server) so I requested to close the ticket.
Well, I finally got mine working. I moved my profile storage to a new share at the root of the storage server and it went. I guess there is an issue with the length of the path to the storage area.
Thanks for the input.
Glad that it worked out well at the end.
Anyways, in the script, the sma file you have mentioned should have the variable name or the actual machine name ...
,"<qt/>C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDCLient\UMALoader.exe<qt/> "\"C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDCLient\..\UMA\smabat.exe\"" /c "\"C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDCLient\sample_command_file.xml\"" /n "\"\\landesksvr\Landesk\Public\USMT\Migration-Store\computername.sma"", STATUS"
It should be something like
,"<qt/>C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDCLient\UMALoader.exe<qt/> "\"C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDCLient\..\UMA\smabat.exe\"" /c "\"C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDCLient\sample_command_file.xml\"" /n "\"\\landesksvr\Landesk\Public\USMT\Migration-Store\%Computer - Device Name%.sma"", STATUS"
Error "user defined status -909 (reboot needed)" in general means "Invalid profile file is specified" which is nothing but a wrong sma file is specified.
Hope this helps..
