Change method in Software Distribution on Provisionning

      Hi all,

I have a system working on OSD with lot of script.

I want to translate in provisionning to log on provisionning history. So all work but in action 'software distribution', it's no possible to change method of installation. It's only push with files download.

It's possible to launch software distribution with parameter 'run from source' (without files download in cache) ?

It seems provisioning grabs the first delivery method listed under Policy. Some people make a run from source method in their policy delivery methods and name it so its the first one in the list. Usually 1_Provisioning_Policy or something of that sort. But that will limit them to that delivery method for all their default provisioning templates I believe.

What I find a heck of alot easier is to use the action to Execute file and distribute your software this way with provisioning. This will run it from source, or you can use a copy file action first to copy the files down to the destination then run a Execute file action as well if you want to run it on the local machine.

I am not sure they have the action to Distribute Software 100% worked out within this module. But I have seen it work and fail in certain instances. Execute file is the way to go in my opinion.

Thanks for this information. i have try to create a policy but i don't know which the first..

            Why policy ? it's not push ?

            Private or public section ?

If you have more information about that, I would like to know

I run execute file action in place, but if you have informations about that, I take.

            Thanks,
