    Console crashes - constantly

I have LDMS 9 with latest SP2. Previous to SP2, the console rashed constantly too - as in at least 5+ times a day, and sometimes every 2-3 minutes of use. Can only clear the problem by restarting the server - but problem comes back within a day or two.

I was promised several times by LANDesk Support that SP2 would solve this. It has not helped at all.

Here is the Event log for the crash:

Myself and fellow technicians experience the same thing since loading the Remote Console on our Windows 7 64-bit machines. LDMS 9.0 SP2, and the console constantly crashes. Also if we have the console open, chances are we will experience Windows Explorer and MMC Console crashes as well. Everything works fine when the LANDesk Console is closed. Its very annoying.

This console is on the server itself - I terminal into the server to manage it since it is in a remote office and performance from a console on my computer is very slow.

Hey LANDesk Support!!!! How about chiming in here!!!!

I called about this problem before SP2, and you said it was a known problem fixed by SP2. What gives? You strongly encourage us to get help through the Portal, but don't help us with our problems unless we call. I have to restart my server every couple days to get the Console stable enough to use!

I just got this same error.

Every time I go to all devices in the console it crashes.

My issue turnd out to be a bad row in the computers table in my database.  Deleting the row fixed it.

                • 5. Re: Console crashes - constantly

having similar issues when running a queries that use the "Exists" or "Not Exists" functions.  Crashes console on Core and Remote Consoles. App log on core server is identical to inital post of this thread....and copied below. The queries worked in v8.8SP3, but not in v9.0SP2.  The interesting thing is if we create and run the query using the service account (EXACT same configuration as mine and other admins) the queries run....and I can run them as well. But any other user creates the same query and it crashes. Weird.  Looks like no LD support on this to date.

As for the bad row in the table, how did you determine this was the case? I'd like to investigate if our issue is being caused by this as well.

Yesterday I opened a formal case by calling LANDesk Support. I first collected a dump and logging from adplus to give them the info that might help.

                    We'll see where that goes...

                      Hi Steve,

Just wondered if LANDesk had managed to fix your issue as, susprise surprise I am experiencing the same issue here too.

                      Many thanks,

                        Hey there everyone,

If I may, I'd like to comment as well in addition to the question on whether LANDesk has provided any resolutions. I and the other admins have been persevering with this issue since day one of our v9.0 SP2 side by side migration from v8.8SP3......our TAM is convinced the recent group of new post-SP2 Component Patches released for the Core/Console/Web/Client/etc...etc....will resolve this issue. I personally do not agree, and believe the issue is corrupt data in a table, similar to the comment made above where deleting a table resolved the issue for them. I am looking to apply these patches ASAP and will update this thread with the results, good or bad. If the Component patches do not resolve it, I would be hard pressed to believe the cause is anything else but corrupt data or tables.

Thanks for the update and do keep us posted! :-)

We are seeing the same issues, console crashes occasionally.  New windows 08r2 server, LD 9 sp2 with most current patches applied.
Found this out on the interweb:

                            Any assistance here?
