What version of LANDesk?
LMDS 8.80 SP3
9.0 so much easier....8.8 you will have to directly manipulate the following tables in SQL - preferredserver and PreferredServerIPLimit (if using ip limits)
Will try this afternoon
Thx for your answer !
I cannot add the credentials string (I think copy directly an existing to the new one) in the ther first table but all the rest is OK
Do you have any idea ?
Thanks a lot !
Hi old post i know but how do you create multiple preferred servers in LDMS 9 Zman?
You say its easier but how?
We have loads to set up!
Look under Distribution, there is preferred server option. You can add multiple servers and set up replication between them. Frank - Axle-IT
HI thanks for that but that is not wat i mean
we need to create hundreds of them and we want a way to create many at once - not manually one by one.
There is a way - so i have heard anyway!
Creat one or two then export to file, look at the structure of the file and create an new export file. File is basically an XML File, so open it in Excel (I used 2010). Add all your other servers, then save as as an XML (rename to .ldms) then import into LANDesk. Never tried this but in theory it should work.
the .Net program i am talking about reads a list of our servers ( about 500 ) then takes a xml template and replaces ##NAME## \ ##DESCRIPTION## \ ##IPSTART## \ ##IPEND## within it as when it checks a server name it also does a nslookup and replaces the last octet to .1 and .255 as they are all on single subnets.
it then creates a new xml file with all the server entries in that i can simply import. : )
I use VB.net to write that and already i have my master xml for 500 servers. Will do it again on a list of ten test servers and import that XML file just to make sure! but the test xml files i already tried work a treat.
That saved me a hell of job!
I have the import working except for the write credentials. The read credentials import correctly but not the write credentials. LANDesk 9.5 no service packs installed.
