I use 7zip SFX files. They are designed to take the return code from whatever the SFX ran. So for instance, I normally use VBScripts to do my installs. I have the vbscript return the error code, and then the SFX picks it up and returns it to LANDesk.
We use a selfextracted Script for our Office Installation and start a Batch File to start the uninstall and Installation.
Inside the Batch File we send the Error Level after the Install with:
sdclient.exe /msg="Installationcode %ERRORLEVEL%"
So we get the real Error Level Code inside the Logfile.
Hope this is helpful for you.
have you got a special version from 7zip? i have test this and i only get errorlevel 0.
does it gives other programs that do this?
You know, it used to work. It hasn't been working since I updated my SFX module. Not sure if there is a good workaround. You could send logs into the core server from your scripts, but it will still report successful. I like to think that my stuff always works, so it hasn't been much of a problem. :-)
