I have created a provisioning template to install Windows 7, after Windows 7 gets laid down I have another template to install software. I install Adobe Reader, Microsoft Office, Bentley Projectwise and Symantec Endpoint Protection. Everything works fine until it gets to Symantec, this fails every time. I have tried using the software distribution in provisioning and the failed. I've tried to use the execute file in provisioning and that fails. I've created a batch file which calls the exe and that fails. I've ran just the exe and that fails. Has anyone else had issues with installing Symantec through provisioning, if I run a standard scheduled task outside of provisioning it works great. I'm out of ideas.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You should post sdclient log.
In the past I've problems with SEP because you miss the LAN connection during installation for a few seconds.
I have the same way when I install SEP.
To not break template, uncheck the option 'Stop template if action failed' in property of action.
Where can I get the log from?
I've unchecked the box "stop template if action failed" and it skips past it but I need to figure out why it won't install.
When I uncheck the option, SEP is installed but action become 'failed' in template.
Your SEP is not installed ?
The folder, on the client, is %programfiles%\LANDesk\LDClient\Data
You should find something like sdclient_taskXXX.log where XXX is the task ID number.
Jary, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I will post the log tomorrow. Thanks for all the help
we had the same issue.
i wrote a batch file for installing the program.
msiexec /i "symantec antivirus.msi" /quiet /norestart
use Microsoft ORCA (http://rapidshare.com/files/455401489/orca.Msi) to change settings in Symantec AntiVirus.msi.
If u install SEP and Windows has pending Filenameoperations SEP installation fails.
pls change the following Option with ORCA (see attached file)
if u use the newest SEP version pls check this (Launch Condition)
and change the value to "0" or use the same as in attached file
i pack the whole source files with WINRAR as a self extracting package and choose in the SFX options to run the install.bat after extracting.
Now create a task and distribute the packed WINRAR file and be happy....
i implemented a wait for 2-3 minutes after starting the WINRAR file.
Hope i was helpful ;-)
