Use the "Install/Update Security Components" task to update LANDesk AV on the clients. This task is available in the Security Configurations tool on the "Create a task" drop-down list. This is the most reliable way to update AV on the clients.
Will this modify agent settings at all? The agents already have AV installed just using the 18.104.22.168 files instead of 22.214.171.124 files and are updating definitions correctly.
It almost just seems easier to do a full agent install rather than doing a patch and then another task to do the AV update. Are there any benefits with doing the updates using patching and then the security task?
The "Install/Update security components" option can only change the AV settings assigned to the client if you select a differnt AV setting when creating the task.
Reinstalling the LANDesk agent requires more bandwidth and usually takes longer because it uninstalls the current agent and then reinstalls it. Using Patch Manager to update the clients, only replaces updated files. Either way will work.
